Terms & Conditions

Payment: Full rental payment is due at time of booking in order to hold your reservation. This must be paid by MasterCard, Visa, American Express or PayPal. Special arrangements can be made for cash payments. There will be a 3% charge if paying by credit card. You will be charged for full reservation regardless of late pickup or early return. 

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be made in the form of an email. You will be billed half the total rental fee for any cancellation within 14 days of departure.

Security Deposit: A security deposit of $1030 or equal to the rental fee (whichever is greater) will be held on your credit card at time of van pick-up and is fully refundable less any damage, loss of equipment, refueling, late and/or extra night fees.  The vehicle should be returned in the condition it was checked out in. Renter is responsible for cleaning the van (including stove, sink, counter, dishes), failure to do so may result in a cleaning charge of $75/hr. 

Drivers License/ Driving Age: All drivers must possess a driver license valid for the entire rental period and a valid major credit card.  All drivers must be present at the time of pick-up and have a physical copy of their valid drivers license.  An international driver license and return flight information is required for all foreign travelers. All drivers must be over 21 years old.  An additional charge of $19 a night will be added for renters under the age of 25.  Drivers other than the individuals listed on the rental agreement are not authorized to drive the vehicle.  All authorized drivers must appear in person and must present a valid driver’s license at the time of vehicle pick up.

Vehicle Pickup and Return: Rentals are based on a 24 hr rental period. Vehicles are available for pickup/returns any time between 9am – 5pm weekdays (Mon-Fri) and between 9:00am – 1:00pm on weekends. Pickups and returns on all major holidays are by appointment only. Vehicles may only be picked up by the authorized driver. After hours pickup and drop off must be arranged in advance. We charge $25 per hour after your scheduled drop off time.  All vehicle pickup/returns must occur at our rental location.  *No one way rentals

Airport pick-up and drop-off is available for $75 each way.

Mileage and Fuel: 150 free miles per day, $0.25 per mile there after.  Renter is responsible for returning the camper-van with the same amount of fuel as recorded at the time of pick up. Failure to return the van with the same amount of fuel will result in an additional fuel charge stated on the rental agreement.

Smoking: Smoking is prohibited inside the vehicles.

Driving Fines: If renter is fined or penalized for breaking any traffic laws or private parking regulations (both public and private), renter is responsible for the fine.  Vagabond Vans reserves the right to provide renter’s contact information as well as a copy of the rental agreement to municipality, business or entity from which the fine originates.

Damage or Loss: Renter is responsible for all loss or theft of, or damage to camper-van or camping equipment. Renter is also responsible for contacting Vagabond Vans and the police as soon as damage or theft is discovered.  Windshield, window and body damage is the responsibility of the renter/ driver. Make sure to note prior damage on delivery checklist slip at the time of pick up.  Removal, tampering or replacing any part of the vehicle is prohibited.  Damage to tires and wheels, and the cost of replacement of tires and wheels are also the responsibility of the renter.

Travel Restricted Areas: Driving off-road is prohibited. Renter is liable for all damages to vehicle, tires, towing charges and other expenses as a result of a breakdown associated with operating in off-road areas. All rented vehicles must stay within the continental United States, any instance of the rental vehicle being taken outside the continental US will result in full loss of renter’s security deposit regardless of vehicle condition.

Breakdowns and Accidents:  If renter experiences a mechanical breakdown or is involved in an accident, Vagabond Vans requires that you contact us immediately and let us take care of the situation.  Performing mechanical, electrical or body work on the vehicle is strictly prohibited.  We will do our best to either have the van repaired or bring you a replacement to get you on the road in a timely manner.  Failure to contact us and to either keep driving or fix the vehicle yourself will result in a full loss security deposit.

Insurance:  Renter is responsible for all damage or loss caused to Vagabond Vans, Vagabond Van property or others. Per federal law, all drivers must have a valid automotive license, accepted by authorities, to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.  Vagabond Vans carries insurance on all vehicles but Oregon is a “secondary state” when it comes to insurance meaning the driver’s policy will act as the primary policy in the event of an accident, there is no way to change this, its state law.  Renter agrees to provide proof of auto liability, collision and comprehensive insurance covering renter, Vagabond Vans LLC and the van being rented, effective for all days+nights of the rental period.  For uninsured drivers we offer RCP (Renter’s Collision Protection) for $19 a day.  RCP limits the renter’s liability for the vehicle in the event of an accident to a $250 deductible, if you are interested in RCP please ask us for more details. Again, Vagabond Vans carries auto liability insurance that is secondary to any other valid and collectible insurance, whether primary, secondary, excess or contingent.  The policy provides bodily injury, uninsured driver and property damage liability coverage.  In all cases it is best to provide your own insurance to avoid paying the RCP daily charge.
